Hello and Congratulations on Your Upcoming Marriage!

My name is Rabbi Irving Luchans. I am an ordained Rabbi who believes that marriage is a
blending of the beliefs, spirituality and love of two individuals. Ceremonies
are designed for couples with various beliefs, backgrounds and situations.
Love knows no religious boundaries, and your wedding ceremony deserves to
reflect your own, unique oneness as a couple.

The Interfaith Wedding

I have extensive experience working with Interfaith and multi-cultural couples.
You are encouraged to celebrate your diverse backgrounds by incorporating
rituals, blessings, prayers and readings reflective of your heritage. These can be
adapted in a universal context for interfaith, intercultural, and interracial
marriages. These traditions can be celebrated with or without religious context,
as well. The symbolism of the rituals within interfaith and intercultural
ceremonies is explained to all those present.

Interfaith couples often feel it important that clergypersons of both their faiths
participate in the marriage ceremony. I am happy to co-officiate with
clergypersons of other faiths.

Examples of the Interfaith and Multi-cultural Rituals Offered

• Ketubah • Chuppah • Seven Blessings • Kiddush cup • Breaking of the glass
• Bedeken • Unity candle • The sign of peace • Wrapping of hands • Giving of coins
• Irish wedding blessing • Iranian sofreh • Native American blessings
• Japanese Sake ceremony • Hindu Seven Steps
• Chinese symbolism • Buddhist ceremonies and rituals

The Ceremony

The heart of your wedding is your ceremony. The ceremony is about yourselves,
your love, your relationship and your families. It reflects who you are and what
you believe. Together we create a unique, meaningful and memorable ritual to
celebrate this special day. Whether it is a traditional ceremony or one that we
create together, it will honor, reflect and enhance your personal faith and feelings.

I will use those ideas, wishes and values that are meaningful specifically to you as
a couple in the creation of your personalized ceremony. For example, we ensure
that your traditions are honored and celebrated in a way that makes everyone feel
comfortable. The Spirituality of your commitment to each other is emphasized.
Family issues are reconciled with great sensitivity.

The Second Marriage

We honor and embrace life’s complexities and assist in bringing togetherness to
this sacred moment. To find love once is in itself a miracle, to find it again is a
testimony to the human spirit and God's infinite compassion. For couples with
children, there are wonderful ways to include and honor them in the ceremony,
as well .

Preparation of the Ceremony

No two ceremonies are alike. Your ceremony reflects you. Each couple has their
own particular magic. I seek to find that magic and convey it back to you and to
all those present. In order to get to know one another, I ask many questions, so I
can then speak to your hearts and your souls during the ceremony. In this way,
your ceremony shall remain alive within you, resonating throughout your
married lives.
